According to FAO database, France is placed at the 11th rank in the world for its total potato production. French production of potatoes for consumption is about 5 million tons. France thus ranks second in Western Europe, behind Germany but recently before the United Kingdom. The total acreage almost (roughly) reaches 120,000 hectares today. The production is specialized: 20% of farms now account for 80% of surfaces. In 2010, there were 17,000 producers of ware potatoes.  Regarding seed production, the area of certified seeds in 2014 was ca 19,000 ha for a total production around 515,000 tons. The French seed potato production has doubled over a period of 20 years.

For this 20th Triennial EAPR Conference, the scientific excursions that are planned for accompanying persons as well as participants will give the opportunity to discover the different aspects of the French potato industry in the major areas of production and market sectors.

Each destination has been chosen for its scientific or professional interest. In most of the trips, both aspects are linked.

The central location of the congress venue will allow to reach these different destinations within a reasonable trip schedule.  Just as the annual 85 million tourists visiting France, you will have a chance to have a glimse at the French tradition, from culinary specialties, breath-breaking landscapes or  historical monuments.

Please discover below the detailed program for the pivot day of the Conference, ie July 12 2017.

There are 8 different destinations that you can cleary identify on the map above. While filling your registration form for EAPR 2017, make sure you choose your favorite destination. Keep in mind that there are limited capacities for each excursion; as a consequence, it will be on the basis of the first registered, first served for your preferred choice !
